The Auckland Medical Research Foundation is seeking applications for its Travel Grant Program to improve the health and quality of life for all New Zealanders and to provide genuine advances in health, science and medicine through funding the highest quality medical research of all kinds.
Purpose
- To provide funding for researchers to disseminate their research at national or international conferences; attend a training course; visit an institution to learn a new research technique; meet with collaborators; etc. This grant is a personal award, and once awarded, is non-transferable to another person.
Funding Areas
- The AMRF’s research funding area is limited to all recognised tertiary institutions and district health boards (DHBs) in the greater Auckland and Northland region of New Zealand.
- The principal investigator/grant holder must be affiliated with a host institution within this area, and the majority of work should be undertaken within this area, but co-applicants can come from, and part of the research can be performed, outside their catchment area – either nationally or internationally.
Funding Information
- Often a grant-in-aid of up to $4,000, but the maximum is dependent on the programme and destination of travel.
- Number of grants awarded: Approximately 25 depending on the available funds and quality of applications.
- Duration: up to one year from award date.
Eligibility Criteria
- To apply you must be a New Zealand resident, permanent resident or citizen. Applications from non-New Zealand residents or citizens will not be accepted.
- You do not need to be presenting AMRF-funded research to apply for an AMRF Travel grant.
- Applicants must have an academic, clinical or research staff posting.
- Health professionals engaged in academic research (that is not part of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree they may be enrolled in) may be eligible for AMRF travel grants.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Applications for retrospective travel.
- Travel for Undergraduate, Honors, Masters or PhD students (PhD must be conferred).
- Research being presented that was undertaken as part of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
- Travel for Research Technicians or Research Assistants.
- The AMRF does not provide retrospective funding.
