The Tasmanian Government is pleased to announce Arts Tasmania a grant program that supports activities that further the artistic practice and careers of individuals and groups.
Arts Tasmania supports and develops the state’s arts and cultural heritage sector as part of the Culture, Arts and Sport division of the Department of State Growth.
Funding Information
- You can apply for up to $30,000.
- You can make one application each round but can be named as a collaborator or group member on other applications.
- Arts Tasmania expects that artists are paid fairly for their work. Artist wages and fees should be included in all application budgets.
- You cannot use grant funds to purchase equipment.
Eligibility Criteria
- As the applicant, you must be:
- an individual artist who has lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
- a member of a group of artists who has lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
- individual artists and arts workers who have lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months
- groups of artists or arts workers with at least one Tasmania member
- Tasmanian organisations that are registered under law (an incorporated association, or a company limited by guarantee) or created by law (a government statutory authority).
- Organisations not based in Tasmania may be eligible for some grant programs for support towards activities that benefit Tasmanian artists and/or audiences.
Ineligibility Criteria
- students seeking support towards activities that are part of a formal course or contribute to an assessment
- Tasmanian Government departments, government business enterprises and school associations
- Federal Government departments and government business enterprises
- organisations that have current multi-year funding agreements with Arts Tasmania, including organisations supported under the National Performing Arts Partnership Framework
- organisations in receipt of administered funding from the Tasmanian Government, including:
- Ten Days on the Island Ltd
- The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (City of Launceston)
- The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery
- The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra
- The Theatre Royal Management Board
- organisations and individuals with outstanding acquittals
- If you or your organisation has received support from Arts Tasmania in the past that has not been acquitted, you are not eligible to receive more support until the acquittal is submitted and approved.
- Department of State Growth employees:
- Permanent, fixed-term basis or casual employees of any part of the Culture, Arts and Sports Division of the Department of State Growth (with regular hours that exceed 0.3 of a full-time load) cannot apply to or receive payment through Arts Tasmania’s programs.
- This includes all Arts Tasmania grant programs, low-interest loans, the COLLECT Art Purchase Scheme, and public art commissions offered under the Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme.
- The Culture, Arts and Sport Division includes Active Tasmania, Arts Tasmania, Events Tasmania, Screen Tasmania, Operations and Client Engagement, the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, the Silverdome and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
