Arts Infrastructure Grant For New and Emerging Artists Program 2025 (Canada)

Applicants can now submit their applications for the artsnb Arts Infrastructure Grant for New and Emerging Artists Program.

The Arts Infrastructure Grants for New and Emerging Artists program is a project-based program designed to provide one-time capital acquisition to emerging New Brunswick artists or newly-arrived immigrants to acquire equipment that will enable them to complete a project and strengthen their long-term artistic development.

Applicants to this program must demonstrate:

  • A record of artistic achievement and quality of work;
  • A clarity and rationale for proposed capital improvement or equipment acquisition, including identification of specific costs, tools and materials required; and
  • The impact of the proposed funding on the artist’s career and ability to create new work.

Funding Information

  • Funding amount of up to $3,000.

Eligible Expenses

  • One-time acquisition of artistic equipment, technical equipment, software or peripherals necessary to advance the creation of future artistic works
  • One-time capital improvements to enhance an artist’s studio, rehearsal, production or presentation space

Ineligible Expenses

  • Ineligible expenses include:
    • Consumable art supplies (e.g. canvasses, clay, paint, etc.) used in association with ongoing artistic practice or for creation of a specific project
    • Routine rent or overhead expenses for artist’s housing, office, studio or retail space
    • Artistic or administrative salaries
    • Stipends or performance fees
    • Real estate purchase, including mortgage payments
    • Personal debt repayments.

Eligible Projects

  • Eligible artistic disciplines include architecture, craft, dance, literary arts (including spoken word, storytelling, literary performance and literary translation), media arts, multidisciplinary arts, classical and non-classical music, theatre and visual arts.
  • Eligible genres for all artistic disciplines include those whose intent and/or content places creativity, selfexpression and/or experimentation above the current demands and format expectations of the mainstream industry, and has a significance beyond being solely a form of entertainment.

Ineligible Projects

  • The proposed artistic creation element of this application must be original work and may not include projects completed for credit or as coursework in an educational context.

Eligibility Criteria

  • In order to be eligible for artsnb funding, an applicant must:
    • Be a Canadian citizen, have an affiliation with a First Nation on Turtle Island, be a permanent resident of Canada or have an application for permanent resident in process;
    • Have resided in New Brunswick for at least one year (12 months) prior to the application deadline;
    • Must qualify as a professional artist

Ineligibility Criteria

  • An artist is not eligible who has previously received a Creation grant in Category A or Category B, or who is presently in consideration for such a grant.
  • Students attending an educational institution on a fulltime basis are not eligible.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Jurors give equal weight to the following criteria in their evaluation:
    • Artistic merit Artistic quality of the applicant’s work; Artistic rationale for the project; Potential artistic outcomes of the project
    • Impact and feasibility Relevance of the project to the stated objectives of the program; Potential of the project to contribute to the applicant’s artistic development; Potential of the project to advance artistic practice; Applicant’s capacity and experience to undertake the project; Reasonable budget and realistic work plan

Application Requirements

  • Architecture, Craft, and Visual Arts:
    • Please provide up to 15 still images.
    • (Performance artists only) Please provide up to 15 minutes of video material.
    • Please indicate the title, medium and dimensions or duration (as applicable) and date of each work.
  • Dance, Media Arts and Theatre:
    • Please provide up to 15 minutes of video material.
    • Please indicate the title, duration and date of each work, and specify the applicant’s role in the creation and/or performance of each work.
    • (Scriptwriters and Playwrights only) Please provide up to 15 pages excerpted from storyboard(s) and/or script(s).
  • Literary Arts:
    • Please provide up to 15 pages excerpted from manuscript(s) and/or publication(s) (Storytellers, slam poets, and performers only)
    • Please provide up to 15 minutes of audio and/or video material.
    • Please indicate the title, page count or duration (as applicable), and date of each work.
  • Music:
    • Please provide up to 15 minutes of audio material.
    • (Composers only) Please provide up to 15 pages excerpted from music score(s).
    • Please indicate the title, duration, instrumentation and date of each work, and specify the applicant’s role in the creation and/or performance of each work.
  • Multidisciplinary Arts:
    • Please refer to the specifications for each discipline involved in the project.
