Applications are now open for Artist Support Grant for Individuals living in the Minnesota counties of Beltrami, Hubbard, Clearwater, Lake of the Woods, or Mahnomen.
The R2AC Artist Support Grant program, made available with funding from the McKnight Foundation, replaces their Individual Artist Grant program from prior years. This grant provides financial assistance to artists/creators/artisans/craftspeople (painters, writers, musicians, dancers, woodcarvers, knitters, filmmakers, sculptors, jewelry makers, poets, potters, basketmakers, etc.) or culture bearers in any stage, beginning to expert, of their creative development.

Eligible Costs
- The Artist Support Grant offers funding for costs associated with the exhibition, performance, or production of creative work or other opportunities to enhance your creative development such as:
- purchase of materials or equipment to create your work
- educational opportunities in arts or culture-bearing activities (excluding academic/college credit) such as classes, demonstrations, or workshops
- working with a master artist, mentor, or elder to learn new or traditional techniques
- attending a national conference or culture-bearing activity
- taking part in a residency program to focus on your creative work
- marketing your creative work
Eligibility Criteria
- Arts Focus: The proposed activity has arts (e.g., visual arts, artisan crafts, music, dance, theater, literary works, etc.) or arts and culture (traditional or contemporary creative cultural works) as its primary focus.
- Age and Citizenship Status: The applicant should be eighteen years of age or older and am a U.S. citizen or have resident alien status.
- Residency: The applicant should be a resident of the state of Minnesota, as determined by the address they use for voting and the payment of taxes, and they should live in one of the following counties: Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard,
- Lake of the Woods or Mahnomen. They have lived there for at least six months prior to deadline/submission date of this application.
- Relocation: They will not use Artist Support Grant funds to relocate their legal address/residence outside of the state of Minnesota.
- Status as a Student: They are not enrolled as a full or part-time student in my artistic discipline at any institution of higher learning.
- Academic Credit or retention of teaching licensure: They are not seeking funding for classes, workshops or projects resulting in academic credit, tuition for academic coursework, teaching licensure, or continuing education requirements (CEUs) to retain their teaching licensure.
- Indian Arts and Crafts Act: They are in compliance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act and are only promoting their art as Native American/Indian art if I they are a member of a federally recognized tribe, or they are an individual certified as an Indian artisan by a federally recognized tribe.
