The Women and Girls Education Grant program was set up over a decade ago by Westpac Fiji to support equal opportunity for women and girls through education, helping to break down barriers and create pathways for women and girls across Fiji.
Theme
- This year’s theme, “March Forward: For all Women and Girls”, calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation – youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls – as catalysts for lasting change.
Categories
- Primary School
- Draw a colourful poster to show how everyone can work together to support girls and women in their community.
- (Please note: Only A4 size paper will be accepted. Each poster must also have a short written description of the poster in no more than 200 words.)
- Secondary School
- Write an essay (500 words max), submit a A4 poster or submit a video on “What does ‘March Forward’ mean to you? Describe one way that young people in Fiji can help promote gender equality in their community.”
- (All video submissions are to be made online)
- Tertiary & Adult Learners
- Write an essay (1,500 words max) on “The Role of Education in Marching Forward: Analyse how improving access to quality education for girls and women in Fiji can drive social and economic progress. What initiatives could be implemented?”.
Eligibility Criteria
- They’re inviting all primary, secondary and tertiary students as well as adult learners who wish to advance their studies to apply.
