The Ontario Arts Council is currently accepting applications for the Visual Arts and Crafts – French Speaking Projects for artists, curators, ad hoc groups, collectives and Francophone organizations in Ontario.
Categories
- The program supports visual arts and crafts practices through grants to artists, curators, ad hoc groups, collectives and Francophone organizations in Ontario. The program has five categories:
- Creation – Early Career Artists: To help cover the costs of research, experimentation, creation, and production of new works.
- Creation – Mid-career artists: to help cover the costs of research, experimentation, creation, and production of new works.
- Creation – Established Artists: To help cover the costs of research, experimentation, creation, and production of new works.
- Curatorial Project: To help cover the costs of finding independent curators.
- Exhibitions/Connections: To help present projects whose objective is to exhibit, document and disseminate the work of Ontario visual artists or professional crafts.
Priorities
- For the Exhibitions/Connections category, priority will be given to candidates from the visual arts and crafts sector.
Funding Information
- Creation – Early career artists maximum $5,000.
- Creation – Mid-career artists maximum $7,500.
- Creation – Established artists maximum $15,000.
- Curatorial project maximum $5,000.
- Exhibitions/Connections maximum $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Creation Categories:
- Professional visual and craft artists who reside in Ontario.
- Individual artists representing a group of artists – If you are creating a work in collaboration with one or more other artists (including a mentor), one of the artists must apply on behalf of the group. If the grant is awarded, the artist in question will receive a T4A slip and will assume responsibility for the grant on behalf of the collaborators. You may attach a group history or a CV for each artist. In the artistic statement, describe the nature of the collaboration and attach supporting documentation from previous collective works.
- Professional visual and craft artists who reside in Ontario.
- Curatorial Project Category:
- Professional visual arts or crafts curators who reside in Ontario.
- Category Exhibitions/Connections:
- Collectives and ad hoc groups working in the visual arts or crafts sector and of which at least 50% of members reside in Ontario.
- Incorporated non-profit organizations that have a head office in Ontario.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time at an educational institution are not eligible. Full-time is defined as more than two courses.
- Curators may not apply for research or exhibition activities for which they have been commissioned as part of employment with an organization that receives operating grants from the CAO.
- Municipalities, colleges and universities.
- Companies incorporated for profit.
- Organizations that receive an operating grant from the CAO, except those that receive an operating grant from the Visual Arts, Media Arts and Crafts program: Francophone self-managed artist organizations and centers – operation or Francophone Diffusion – operation.
