Applications are now open for the Teledoc Grant Scheme, a collaborative project of the NPO, CoBO and the Film Fund.
A Teledoc is a layered documentary with a screening time of 75 – 90 minutes with a contemporary theme and a subject with a clear Dutch connection.
The scheme is aimed at independent documentary directors and producers. Experienced directors are challenged to develop a film with a universal theme and authorial vision, which is cinematographically stimulating, narrative and accessible to a wide audience.
Funding Information
- The contribution for development included test recordings is a maximum of €45,000 and for realization a maximum of €425,000 for a maximum of 4 projects per year.
Eligibility Criteria
- Submission of proposals for development is open to both independent documentary producers together with a director as well as for directors alone.
- Producers and creators are in principle not affiliated with a broadcaster.
- Submission for realization is only possible after a development application has been approved within Teledoc by the team of producer and director.
- The director and the producer cannot be one and the same person.
- The production company must have been established and active in the Netherlands for at least 2 years and the producer who legally represents the production company must have relevant work experience in the professional film and television sector.
Selection Criteria
- The film plan is a layered documentary with a screening time of 75 – 90 minutes with an urgent and universal theme that touches on a social undercurrent and a subject that is relevant to a broad Dutch audience.
- A clear author’s vision for a documentary that is both cinematographically distinctive, innovative as it is ambitious.
Application Requirements
- A development application consists of 2 A4 pages with the synopsis of the intended Teledoc, plus 2 pages of explanation, including at least a motivation and vision on the direction, and CV/filmography of the director and (if already a team) of the producer, including telephone number and e-mail address.
- The CV must show whether the applicants meet the criteria. The filmography must include therefore of the mentioned films it should be indicated:
- the lengths;
- broadcaster and date of broadcast;
- cinema circulation data (number of screenings, theatres, visitors); and
- any festival selections and awards.
