Deadline: 1 December 2024
The Hangar, an open centre for artistic research and production in Barcelona, is calling for applications for its Production Grants to provide grant recipients with the budget, space and technical conditions required to produce a work and contribute to its dissemination.
One of the two grants in this call will be reserved for Hangar’s resident artists. It implements all stages in the production of a project: from the preparation of feasibility reports, development and control of budgets, to the construction, assembly and detailed maintenance of productions that include experimental research of materials.
Objectives
- To assist creators in their research and/or production activities, in their experimental work and in the development and completion of their projects.
- To provide artists with advice on issues relating to production: production planning, budgeting and management, or research into materials and construction processes.
- To promote the documentation, publication, dissemination, transfer and exchange of knowledge on production structures in the field of creation.
Benefits
- Hangar will provide the beneficiary with:
- Technical support for the development and production of the project. Scholarship recipients will have a package of hours of advice for the feasibility study, production design, technical consultations or administrative support.
- Hangar has different spaces that can be used depending on availability with a maximum of 6 uses during the development of the scholarship.
- The subsidized price per artist will be applied to the tasks assigned to the Hangar technical team, the extra use of space or audiovisual material not included in the previous sections.
- Hangar will make available to the scholarship recipients the contacts of its network of collaborators: suppliers, technicians, techno-scientific research centers or other artistic and cultural institutions that may be needed.
- Hangar will support the dissemination and public presentation of the project.
- These scholarships do not cover travel expenses from the place of residence to the center, nor accommodation or food expenses.
- These scholarships do not include the use of the workshop.

- Each scholarship is endowed with €7,000 gross for the development of the chosen project, of which a minimum of 15% (€1,050.00) and a maximum of 30% (€2,100.00) will be honorariums.
- The duration of the two scholarships is three consecutive months to be carried out between January 1 and June 30, 2025.
Eligible Projects
- The use of spaces and technical material will be governed by the conditions included in the loan forms that must be signed for each use.
- A public presentation of the project will be made, which may be at Hangar or in another jointly agreed space depending on possible co-productions or collaborations.
