The U.S. Department of State’s Consulate General in Almaty, Kazakhstan is now accepting proposals from implementing partners for the design and execution of the English Access Scholarship Program for the 2025-2027 cycle.
The Access Program aims to provide motivated, economically disadvantaged teenagers with a solid foundation in English through two years of after-school instruction and intensive summer sessions.
Objectives
- Objective 1: Provide at least 60 youth from low-income communities in Taldykorgan and Kyzylorda with enhanced English language skills through a two-year intensive program.
- Objective 2: Strengthen the teaching and leadership capabilities of Access English language instructors, fostering their professional growth and pedagogical effectiveness.
- Objective 3: Foster re-engagement with alumni of the Access Program in Taldykorgan and Kyzylorda, encouraging ongoing participation and support within the program’s community.
Project Goal
- The goal of the Access Program is to provide academically talented and motivated youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with the opportunity to enhance their English language skills, deepen their understanding of U.S. culture and democratic values, and develop leadership abilities.
Funding Information
- Estimated Total Program Funding: $ 125,000.
- Award Ceiling: $62,500.
- Length of performance period: 24 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- Not-for-profit organizations, civil society/non-governmental organizations
- Public and private educational institutions
- For-profit organizations
Ineligibility Criteria
- This opportunity will not support:
- Projects relating to partisan political activity;
- Charitable or development activities; including direct social services such as medical, psychological, and/or humanitarian support;
- Construction projects;
- Projects that support specific religious activities;
- Fund-raising campaigns;
- Lobbying for specific legislation or programs;
- Scientific research or surveys;
- Commercial projects;
- Projects intended primarily for the growth or institutional development of the organization;
- Projects that duplicate existing projects; or
- Illegal activities.
