Applications are now open for the Community Sports Fund Program to provide funding for community sports groups travelling to Asia for sports to include cultural activities to their itineraries.
By providing sportspeople the opportunity to extend their experiences to include cultural activities, they hope to help ignite participants’ curiosity to learn more about the country they are visiting and share their experiences with their peers, friends and whānau on returning to New Zealand.
Funding Information
- Funding is designed to support half/full days of cultural activities. Budget up to a maximum of $300 per person and no more than $7000 per team.
- Funding can go towards transportation, tickets, entry fees, food and accommodation (at the discretion of the Foundation).
- Funding must be used within 12 months of the date of your application.
Eligible Activities
- The following is a list of some suggested activities:
- Visit a cultural site, such a shrine, museum or gallery
- Attend a sporting event
- Attend a festival
- Participate in a craft-making workshop.
Eligibility Criteria
- Community sports funding is available for:
- non-professional sports people only
- athletes aged 14 and over
- New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
- The main criteria for travelling to Asia must be to participate, train, up skill or officiate in sport.
Application Requirements
- You will need to:
- upload a letter of approval for your trip from your sport’s national sports organisation.
- upload an itinerary of cultural activities your group would like to experience, including a budget.
- You will also be asked to:
- Outline how this fund will assist you/your group to become knowledgeable about the country you are visiting (150 words max)
- Outline how this fund will increase you/your group’s confidence in their interactions with the country you are visiting (150 words max)
- Outline how will you/your group share this experience on your return to New Zealand (150 words max).
