The Creative Arts Business Network is seeking applications to develop the professional creative sector in the Scottish Borders through a diverse programme of support and to seek to strengthen the sector by working towards longer term strategic goals.
The CABN Small Grants Fund supports emerging and established, professional artists living in the Scottish Borders with funding for creative project development, research or training in any artform.
Focus Areas
- They welcome applications from both emerging and established creative practitioners working in, but not limited to:
- music,
- film,
- dance,
- performing arts,
- theatre,
- visual theatre,
- puppetry,
- animation,
- drawing,
- painting,
- installation,
- social or participatory practice,
- sculpture,
- textiles,
- cross-artform collaborations and
- photography.
Funding Information
- A fund offering awards of up to £2000 to creative practitioners living in the Scottish Borders.
Eligible Projects
- Projects can be focused on:
- Creating work or project development
- Skills development or training.
Eligibility Criteria
- Professional artists over the age of 18 at any stage in their career living in the Scottish Borders.
- If your project involves your working in an art-form that is not your usual practice or which you have limited experience working in, they strongly encourage that you include a named collaborator or mentor with experience in these fields where possible.
Selection Criteria
- Each application will be assessed based on the information provided, and they will use a selection grid to assess each across 5 categories:
- Creative Potential: They will consider the artistic merit of the idea pitched alongside the artist’s previous creative practice (in education or professional contexts) to assess the overall creative potential of the project.
- Objectives and Timeframe: How realistic is the timeframe and what the artist wants to achieve within it?
- Benefit to Artist’s Practice: Is it the right moment in the artist’s career for this kind of support?
- Budget: Is everyone paid fairly and is the budget realistic?
- Legacy: What is the future potential for the artist as a result of this project?
