Deadline: 31 January 2025
The IJURR Foundation is seeing applications for its Writing-Up Grants Program.
IJURR Foundation promotes urban and regional research. Within this broad field it is particularly keen to encourage an understanding of the interconnection between social, economic and political processes and of the broader causes and effects of these processes. Research which examines policies critically and focuses on their unintended as well as intended consequences is more likely to be supported than research on managerially defined questions.
Funding Information
- The value of this award is up to a maximum of £6,000. Grants awarded may vary and applications are considered on a case by case basis. In 2024 awards were valued between £1000 and £5600.
Cost Covered
- The grant can be spent on university fees, accommodation or equipment expenses while writing up but is not intended to cover the full costs of being a student, and applicants will therefore need to apply for other sources of funding.
Eligibility Criteria
- Post graduate (Doctorate) research students working within the field of urban and regional studies.
- Nationality of a low-income or middle-income country as classified by the World Bank. Middle-income includes both lower and higher-middle income categories.
- Preference will be given to students who completed their first degrees (BA/BSc, MA/MSc) in their home country or another low or middle-income country.
- Students may apply for this award if they have completed all their field work, commenced their writing up, and already know the date when they will submit their dissertation (ideally within 6 months of award of funding in April). Applicants usually will be in their third or later year of study.
Application Requirements
- Completed application form
- 2 academic references
- Evidence of registration on to a suitable PhD course
