The International Mathematical Union is seeking applications for its Conference Support Grant Program to support mathematical science-based conferences and research schools organized in developing countries.
Funding Information
- The maximum amount that is awarded is 4,000 EUR.
- Funds granted are usually in the range of 1,500 EUR – 3,500 EUR.
Eligible Costs
- The CDC Conference Support Grant is meant to support conference organizers in covering the following costs for invited speakers and participants from developing countries:
- Travel expenditures
- Accommodation expenditures
- No other expenses can be covered (including venue rental, meal expenses, etc.)
Ineligible Costs
- This grant cannot support expenditures for meals, venue rental, publication, printing and copying.
Eligibility Criteria
- The conference must be related to, if not in, the field of mathematical sciences
- The conference must address either a regional or an international audience and should benefit mathematicians from neighboring countries
- The selection committee specifically considers only conferences at a research level and cannot support schools or activities which involve professional training
- The conference takes place in a developing country. In exceptional cases, conferences taking place in developed countries inviting mathematicians from developing countries may also be accepted. In these instances, conference organizers must match the awarded amount from IMU-CDC with an equivalent amount of funding from other sources to support mathematicians from developing countries.
Application Requirements
- Applications must include the following:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) of main and co-conference organizers. It must include a selected list of publications. (Max. 3 pages).
- Detailed budget that includes a draft of the overall budget of the conference as well as grant requested from the CDC.
- A list of invited speakers (Name-University-Country). Please specify those who have accepted the invite.
- A detailed scientific program (which includes details of how the conference will be organized: plenary lectures, parallel sessions, etc).
- Statement on the relevance of the conference for participating mathematicians from developing countries.
