Deadline: 31 January 2025
The Alfred Kordelin Foundation is inviting applications for its major cultural projects aimed at breakthroughs that support their goal of creating a more diverse, competent and international Finland.
Major cultural projects should be ambitious and offer solutions to societal challenges from the perspectives of art, science or popular education, or a combination thereof. When evaluating applications, they emphasize impact, cross-disciplinary approach and long-term continuity – their goal is a vibrant and self-sustaining cultural field that enriches society in a sustainable way.
Funding Information
- A major cultural project is a two-year project, and is applied for with a single application for two years. The amount of funding for two years can vary, from 100,000 to 300,000 euros.
- Bridge funding can be granted to large cultural projects that have already been implemented to support continuity and impact. The funding is intended for still active projects that have a clear plan for how the project will improve its chances of receiving further funding and how the project’s impact will increase. The amount and duration of the funding can vary (50,000 –150,000 euros).
- The working grant can be for a maximum of 24 months and a maximum of 50,000 euros per person, so that the grant amount is approximately 2,080 euros per month. The grant is only awarded for full-time work.
- The support is intended to be used for work costs and expenses incurred after the grant is awarded.
Eligibility Criteria
- The funding is intended for communities and registered associations. A working group (for example, a research group or an artist group) can apply if the official applicant is, for example, a university, a registered association or another community.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Private individuals cannot apply for major cultural projects funding.
Evaluation Criteria
- The evaluation of applications proceeds in four stages:
- Experts assess the estimated impacts of the projects in solving various societal challenges and the breakthroughs the projects aim to achieve.
- Thematic groups meet to discuss the applications addressed to them and prepare their own proposals.
- The groups together select six to nine projects to be further selected and interviewed. Experts and foundation staff participate in the interviews.
- In the final stage, the groups together make a proposal for a decision on the projects to be funded to the foundation’s board.
