The ActivArt Artist Micro-Grants program by the Ottawa Arts Council is a funding program to support artists toward their creative practice.
This micro-grant is intended to cover the cost of creation materials, professional development, travel, equipment/software, marketing or promotional materials, subsistence, and basic needs.
Funding Information
- ActivArt Artist Micro-Grants are available for individuals that request a minimum of $250 and a maximum of $500.
What can grant funds be used for?
- Supplies, equipment, or software
- Rehearsal, creation or development studio rentals
- Research
- Professional development (ie. conferences, workshops, symposiums, mentorships)
- Travel
- Basic needs
- Marketing/promotional materials.
What can grant funds not be used for?
- Ongoing operating expenses
- Debts
- Expenses that have already been spent
- Projects with high ticket prices
- Profit-generating projects
- Capital expenses such as new construction or the purchase of major equipment.
Who can apply?
- Artists, creatives, individuals, and organizers of all disciplines regardless of race, national origin, religious background, differing abilities, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or economic status.
- Collectives (groups of 2 working together).
- Applicants must reside within the Ottawa-Gatineau region, and an active practice in Ottawa is required.
