The GEF SGP in Kazakhstan Small Grants Program of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Development Program in Kazakhstan announces a call for applications for membership in the National Steering Committee (NSC) among representatives of civil society organizations in Kazakhstan with at least 3 years of experience.
The principal functions of the NCC include the following:
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Country Program development, including the development, implementation, periodic review and revision of the Country Program Strategy (CPS).
- Review and approval of projects in accordance with the PCA, through the principles of collegial decision, democracy, impartiality and transparency of procedures in accordance with the GEF SGP Operational Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Provide technical support for the review of project implementation at the country level in accordance with the SGP Project Document for this operational phase, including monitoring and evaluation of projects (for example, visits to the project site).
- Ensuring program compliance with global, regional and national policies and strategies of the GEF, as well as other organizations that participate in financing;
- Supporting partnership development and resource mobilization efforts for the program at the project and national level.
- Support the scaling of lessons and conclusions drawn from the experience of implementing SGP projects in the development of national development plans and development policies.
Criteria
- They include local communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic institutions, research institutes and conservation and sustainable agriculture organizations.
- Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in the GEF focal area: climate change, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
- Selected candidates will be invited as voluntary members to participate in the work of the NSC for a period of 3 to 6 years.
