Deadline: 15 March 2024
For the 2024 Misk Art Grant, Misk Foundation invites emerging and mid-career artists from the Middle East and North Africa to explore phenomena shaped by modern technology like constant connectivity, data analytics, and algorithmic systems.
Expanding beyond traditional gallery spaces, they are seeking various forms of multimedia outdoor artworks such as video, virtual reality, sculptures, and installations. They seek artworks that investigate both the opportunities and limitations that media and technology impose, and welcome works critiquing technology’s capacity to exploit or alter human behavior as well as pieces investigating its potential for novel social formations.
The selected artworks will shed light on the interplay between technological progress and underlying social dimensions while encouraging critical reflection on the tools and processes that shape perception today.
Note: Recipients are offered one-on-one sessions with mentors. The overall program aims to help enhance the artist’s skills, inspire them, and develop an art community.
