The ”la Caixa” Foundation, which firmly believes that scientific progress, research, mobility and professional qualifications are key to developing society, is launching the postdoctoral fellowships programme aimed at hiring excellent researchers—of any nationality—who are willing to continue their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) research career in Spain or Portugal.
The ”la Caixa” Foundation is offering 15 three-year postdoctoral fellowships to recruit experienced researchers to carry out their projects at any university or research centre of Spain or Portugal. The research must be carried out in the research areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), including Bio and Health Sciences.
The fellow should start work at the host institution between 2nd May and 31st December 2024. The ”la Caixa” Foundation must be notified of the fellow’s start date at the host institution prior to this date and as soon as an agreement is reached.
Funding Information
- Maximum amount: €305,100.
- Three maximum annual payments of €97,500 which include:
- Labour costs (salary included): a maximum of €59,000 to cover the total labour costs of the host institution hiring the fellow.
- Annual research project costs of €38,500
- Gross annual family allowance of €1,200
- Mobility allowance (moving and housing) of €5,400 gross
- Maximum duration: 3 years.
Requirements of the Call
- Researchers of any nationality are eligible for the Retaining modality of the Postdoctoral Junior Leader fellowships. To be eligible for admission, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Experience: have been awarded a PhD between two and seven years prior to the closing date of the call. The date of obtaining the PhD will be understood as the date the doctoral thesis is defended. Special deadlines apply for candidates with interrupted research careers.
- Candidates must have carried out research stays at a centre or university outside Spain (or outside Portugal for those joining a Portuguese centre), during their doctoral or postdoctoral studies, for a total of at least 6 months before the closing date of the call.
- Mobility:
- For candidates interested in Portuguese centres or universities: candidates must have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Portugal for more than 12 months in the three years immediately preceding the closing date of the call.
- Special deadlines will apply for candidates with interrupted research careers and for those who’ve gone through the process to obtain refugee status under the Geneva Convention.
- Complete application: only candidates whose application meets all the requirements of the call may be admitted.
