The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is thrilled to invite applications for its Rhode Island Space Grant Consortium to offer academic year fellowships for graduate students in science, engineering or math.
These competitive research fellowships are based on academic achievement, a letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor, and future academic promise. The awards are offered to graduate students interested in carrying out NASA related research projects.
Program Specifications
- Academic Year Fellows work the majority of their time on their studies and research in conjunction with their degree program. If awarded, will be asked to participate in the annual statewide RI Space Grant Spring Symposium by presenting a poster or a talk.
- Summer Fellows spend all of their time on their independent research project with their science advisor. If awarded, will be asked to participate in the annual statewide RI Space Grant Spring Symposium by presenting a poster or a talk.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for a NASA Space Grant, you must:
- Be a U. S. citizen.
- Have a faculty advisor who will supervise your research project during the duration of the fellowship period.
- Have a research project with NASA relevance.
- Enrolled full time in, admitted to a STEM related discipline.
- Be enrolled at a RI-based institution.
- Complete application online (along with supporting materials).
Application Requirements
- Submit an abstract or poster to the Annual Rhode Island Space Grant Spring Symposium explaining your research and its results. You will be informed of the date and deadline for the abstract at a later time.
- Acknowledge funding from the NASA Rhode Island Space Grant Consortium on any posters and/or publications resulting from your supported research.
- At completion of fellowship, submit a one page summary of the funded research and explain how it will help in your future academic work or career goals.
