L’ORÉAL UNESCO Fellowships for Women in Science are awards offered by a partnership between L’Oréal Turkey and the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO to promote, enhance and encourage the contribution of women pursuing their research careers in Turkey in the fields of the life & environmental and physical sciences.
The National Fellowships Program initiated in 2003 is continuing to promote women in scientific research on a global scale.
Fellowships
L`ORÉAL – UNESCO National Fellowship for Women in Science programme honors four young scientist each year. Two awards are given in Life & Environmental Sciences and two awards are given in Physical Sciences Category. Proposed research projects should focus on the specific areas listed below under Life & Environmental and Physical sciences heading:
- Life & Environmental Sciences: Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics and Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Ecology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Bioinformatics including Health Informatics, Neurobiology, Biomedical and Artificial Intelligence studies in Biology.
- Physical Sciences: Basic Sciences (except for life sciences) and Engineering, Particulate Materials, Polymers, Glasses and Ceramics, Composites, Biomaterials, Nanomaterials, Specially Designed Surfaces, Photonic Crystals; Condensed Matter Physics and Statistical Physics.
Value
- Each Fellow is granted 200.000 TL. The fellowship program is open to scientists (citizens of Turkey) with a doctoral (Ph.D.) or a post-doctoral degree under 40 years of age at the date of 1st January 2024.
Criteria
- Each candidate must complete her doctoral degree program and hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or medical doctorate equivalent to Ph.D. before the application deadline to apply to the fellowship program.
- The fellowship shall be awarded based on relevance, quality and expected impact of the recipient’s scientific research, with the purpose to support financially the recipient in pursuing her career in the field of scientific research and/or development in the concerned country. The fellowship recipient shall undertake to pursue this research for a period of one year in accordance with her submitted application, and, upon the expiry of this term, to submit a brief progress report to the founders and partners of the fellowship.
- The fellowship recipient shall immediately inform the fellowship commission if she changes her place of work or research and / or gives up pursuing the scientific project within a period of one year after the fellowship has been awarded. The fellowship cannot be postponed to a later date.
- Recipients must implement their projects in the Republic of Turkey.
