Are you passionate about climate justice, food sovereignty, sustainable agriculture, and community empowerment? Are you an emerging youth advocate or a seasoned climate professional? Are you ready to contribute your expertise to a global network of climate advocates while advancing your career and creating lasting community impact? Point of Progress, through the Solidarity Exchange for Environment and Development, is inviting Malawian volunteers and professionals to apply for a transformative 12-month fellowship that promotes cross-cultural collaboration and climate justice action between Malawi and Norway.
SEED is a bi-national climate justice exchange program connecting Malawian and Norwegian change makers both youth and professionals in immersive learning, cross-cultural collaboration, and community-driven climate action. Participants will tackle the root causes of climate change through the lens of climate justice, gender equality, youth empowerment, food sovereignty, and sustainable development.
Program Tracks
- SEED Volunteer Participant: Ideal for young professionals and grassroots advocates looking to grow through experience, learning, and local action.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in community -based climate justice and food sovereignty interventions
- Collaborate with youth clubs, civil society actors, and local authorities to promote resilient food systems.
- Participate in farm visits, awareness campaigns, and advocacy training.
- Co-develop policy briefs, visual content, and stories that highlight community-led solutions.
- Influence public discourse and behavior through media engagement and grassroots mobilization.
- Strengthen community knowledge and practices in sustainable food production and land stewardship.
- SEED Professional Participant: Designed for professionals with practical experience who wish to lead strategic interventions and mentor the next generation.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement impactful climate justice and food sovereignty programs (e.g. agro ecology, forest restoration, seed security, food justice campaigns).
- Provide strategic technical input to NGOs, youth networks, and policy platforms.
- Facilitate capacity-building workshops and intergenerational learning exchanges.
- Contribute to advocacy campaigns, policy analysis, and thought leadership on climate and food justice.
- Collaborate with Malawian and Norwegian institutions to strengthen local food systems and climate resilience.
- Mentor youth leaders and foster innovation in sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
- Initiate organizational capacity strengthening on food sovereignty and climate justice.
Eligibility Criteria
- SEED Volunteer Participant:
- Aged 18-30
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, Development Studies, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in climate justice, food sovereignty, or environmental advocacy
- Passionate about equitable food systems and grassroots empowerment
- Must hold a valid passport and commit to the 12-month exchange.
- SEED Professional Participant:
- Aged 22-35
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Climate Change, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or a related field
- Minimum 3years experience in climate action, food systems, or policy work
- Deep understanding of climate justice, food sovereignty, gender equity, and resilience building
- Must hold a valid passport and be available for a 12-month professional exchange.
