Applications are now open for the Writer of Fiction for Children and/or Young Adults at dlr LexIcon to focus on fiction writing for children and/or young people.
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council invites applications for two writers. They will be based in dlr LexIcon in Dún Laoghaire from September 2025 to June 2026.
Objectives
- To create opportunities for the playwright to:
- Develop her/his own work
- Engage with other writers and/or artists within dlr
- Provide opportunities for the public to engage with writing for children and young people
Funding Information
- The fee for the emerging writer is €12,000.
- The fee for the mid-career/established writer is €15,000.
- A separate budget of €3,000 for public engagement and events will be managed by the dlr Arts Office.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must live in, work as a writer in, be originally from or have studied a relevant discipline in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
- Applicants may not have previously been a writer/poet in residence for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Employees of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are not eligible to apply.
Selection Criteria
- Artistic merit and distinctiveness of proposal
- Quality of previous work
- Suitability of the proposal to the context
- Ability and experience in public engagement
