Deadline: 3 January 2025
The Re-Connect with its Island Residency Program invites artists from performance and bodily based disciplines to apply for a fully granted 15-day residency at The Island, Turkey.
This residency aims to secure a meeting point for artists who face exclusion based on nationality and passport-related issues. They aspire to embody the concept of a utopian island, where all qualified artists are embraced regardless of their race or origin.
Benefits
- They will cover your traveling expenses, per-diem, and accommodation (please note it might be in a room shared with 1 more person).
- If you need a visa to travel to Turkey, costs will be covered. The process to apply for it is your responsibility, but they will support it at the best of our capacity and provide letters of invitation.
- You will receive an artist fee of 800 euros. On site, you can expect support and mentoring of your work, but you are expected to work mainly outdoors, and have a self-organized approach.
- A public presentation to share the outcomes of your residency will be organized, with the participation of international curators.
- Participants will be eligible for a further residency at BIRCA headquarters, in Denmark, in 2026
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals reflecting on island ecosystems or the topic of borders will be of special interest.
