The Buen-TEK invites artists to develop innovative projects that technologies merge cutting-edge and traditional with ancestral knowledge, addressing regional ecosystems and fostering critical, inclusive, and sustainable dialogue between the arts, sciences, technologies, innovation, and cultural values.
The residency program will support individuals selected through guidance and support from the host organizations, the Consortium Organizations European and translocal experts, and also through public, learning and dissemination activities.

- Visibility through the international communication platforms of the project.
Funding Information
- A grant of EUR 20,000.00.
- Each residency will last 5 year months, to be implemented between September 2025 and February 2026.
Eligible Projects
- Projects that consider and develop the conceptual framework of Buen-TEK through artistic experimentation.
- Projects that address the specific theme proposed by the Twins, linked to each regional ecosystem.
- Innovative projects that embrace radical and critical use of technologies, including local and traditional technologies, and local concepts of rights and values. This may include, but is not limited to, Al (data collection, training, generative), computational systems, data visualization, machine learning, free and open-source software (FLOSS), DIY/DIWO, sewing, cooking, construction, and more.
- Projects capable of learning from ancestral knowledge, particularly regarding social, economic, and ecological systems, and of using technologies in ways that respect human and more-than-human life.
- Projects based on a practical and situated approach.

Eligibility Criteria
- Residencies are open to artists who hold citizenship or residency in one of the following eligible countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, and Uruguay.
- Individual artists (individuals) or representatives of a company, collective, or artistic association may apply. A tax identification number (NIF or equivalent) is required in all cases.
- Candidates must be:
- Nationals or permanent residents of any eligible country (natural person);
- Artistic company, collective or association based in any eligible country;
- Teams comprising artists from Europe and any eligible country. At least 50% of the collective’s members must come from eligible countries. The person submitting the application on behalf of the group must be from one of the eligible countries and will also be the recipient of the funding.
- Applicants must present a residence permit from any eligible country or a valid passport from any eligible country.
- Although applicants who meet the above requirements may reside outside of South America, they are expected to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and/or extensive collaboration with the communities and organizations in the country where the project will be carried out.
- They also cannot be legally affiliated with any Buen-TEK Consortium organization or Twin, or with entities affiliated with them. Individuals who are permanent employees or collaborators of Buen-TEK project organizations or Twins are not eligible.
- Applicants cannot receive more than one S+T+ARTS scholarship in 2025.
- According to Commission Regulation No 651/2014, in its Article 2.18, candidates cannot be in liquidation or a company in difficulty, nor be excluded from obtaining EU financing, according to the provisions of national and EU legislation, or by a decision of a national or EU authority.
