It is time to revisit the past and revive a few of the sustainable and traditional ways to process millet. Do you know any? If yes, then you can contribute to the documentation of traditional ways of processing millets by taking part in the NIScPR-SVASTIK – MyGov activity “Share Your Traditional Ways to Process Millets”.
CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) has a glorious legacy of 70 years in science communication and building scientific temper among diverse stakeholders. The Institute has been actively involved in the conservation and promotion of traditional knowledge through its various activities such as the publication of ‘The Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge’ and ‘Wealth of India’, and the establishment of ‘The Traditional Knowledge Digital Library’. In continuation of these efforts for the conservation and promotion of traditional knowledge of India, CSIR-NIScPR has launched a national initiative, SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge) for communicating India’s traditional knowledge to the society. As a part of this initiative, simplified creative content on traditional knowledge/practices of India with a scientific basis is being disseminated in various Indian languages on all popular social media platforms.
Terms and Conditions
- The activity is open to Indian citizens.
- Participants are required to provide accurate and complete information during the submission process. This includes their name, contact details (phone number and email address), and any other necessary information as requested.
- Each participant should only submit a single millet processing technique along with a photograph. Multiple submissions from a single participant will result in disqualification. It is strictly forbidden to employ offensive language.
- All entries must be created by the participants themselves. Plagiarism or copying content from external sources will lead to disqualification.
- The processing technique should not be displayed in any publication, on any website, or on any social media platform.
- The content must be original and in compliance with the Indian Copyright Act of 1957. Whoever violates the copyright of others would be disqualified from the activity. Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)- National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) and MyGov bear no responsibility for copyright violations or intellectual property infringements committed by participants.
- The millet processing techniques should primarily focus on the preharvesting/harvesting/post-harvesting technologies or any other pre-cooking tips that enhance the nutritional benefits of the millet to showcase cultural diversity and uniqueness.
- The submitted processing techniques should be accompanied by step-by-step instructions, and any additional tips or variations.
- At the time of submission, participants must provide a title and write-up summary (approx. 200 words) of the described technique covering its traditional and cultural significance and uniqueness, possible health benefits due to processing methods, seasons/festivals when it is harvested, etc., in English or Hindi.
- The participant’s MyGov profile should be accurate and up-to-date, as well as the information used for further communication. This consists of the participant’s name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and Aadhar number. Entries of participants/applicants lacking a comprehensive profile will be disqualified.
- CSIR-NIScPR and MyGov will have the right to use the processing techniques submitted in this activity in media, including without limitation, the right to publish, adapt, distribute, copy, display, or translate in printed or electronic media.
- CSIR-NIScPR and MyGov reserve the right to cancel or modify the entirety or a portion of this activity, as well as the Terms and conditions/ Technical Parameters/ Evaluation Criteria. Any modifications to the Terms and Conditions/ Technical Parameters/, or cancellation of the activity, will be updated/ posted on the MyGov platform. Participants/applicants would be responsible for staying up-to-date on any modifications to the activity’s Terms & Conditions, & Technical Parameters.
- Certificates of participation will be awarded to all participants.
- NIScPR-SVASTIK and MyGov reserve the right to disqualify any entry that violates the terms and conditions or is deemed inappropriate or offensive.
- By participating in the activity, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by all the terms and conditions stated herein.
