The Starving Artist Initiative is thrilled to announce an open call for submissions for the upcoming digital exhibition and publication – Rural Revolt: Art Advocacy for Non-Urban Voices.
They invite artists from all backgrounds and disciplines to submit their work for consideration. Whether you express yourself through visual art, photography, digital media, or any other form that can be digitally shown, they welcome your unique perspectives and narratives.
This exhibition aims to spotlight the lived experiences of rural individuals and their advocacy for rural youth through art. It seeks to showcase the interconnectedness of the shared human experiences while raising awareness about the challenges, voices, and experiences of people in rural communities.
Artistic Mediums
- Artists are encouraged to explore diverse artistic mediums, including but not limited to:
- Painting, drawing, and illustration.
- Photography and digital art.
- Mixed media and collage.
- Video art and animation.
- Note: No AI generated Art.

Eligibility Criteria
- Ages: 13 -30 years old.
- Rural Connections: Raised or currently based in a rural region.
- They are especially keen to share work from artists from rural individuals in Scotland, Netherlands and Malta but open to hear from diverse rural lived-in experiences or passionate voices for this project.
Terms and Conditions
- By submitting your artwork to the Starving Artist Initiative for consideration in “Rural Revolt” exhibition and publication, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Approval for Use: The Starving Artist Initiative has permission to use and showcase your artwork for marketing, image use, and publication purposes related to the project.
- Image Use: The initiative is allowed to reproduce images of your artwork for promotional and documentation purposes, including digital and print media.
- Publication and Exhibitions: Your artwork may be included in “The Body Remembers” digital publication and showcased in related exhibitions organized by the Starving Artist Initiative with no monetary compensation.
- Note: The Starving Artist Initiative is not responsible for any loss, damage, or theft that may occur during the submission process, exhibition, or publication.
