Deadline: 24 November 2023
Goethe-Institut Indonesia has initiated a workshop in the topic of immersive audio and multimedia composition.
With the advanced development of audio technology, more and more aspects within the practice have become more accessible and affordable, including a new multi-dimensional approach ‘immersive audio’ – the art of sound design that aims to produce a fully immersive listening experience where audio is perceived as coming from all around you. This contemporary approach to audio elements is then combined with visual elements to produce a new mixed-media composition that influence each other in an effortless manner as if they are one.
In the Rupa Suara workshop, participants will take part in a range of theoretical and practical activities related to audio-visual topics mentioned above, ranging from music composition in immersive audio formats, the introduction of audio-reactive visuals, to the creation of D-I-Y modules. The workshop is designed to explore development of music/aural composition into immersive format, both in the context of live performance and recording production, how reactive visual elements can be attuned, synchronized, and combined with audio elements to produce a different experience that exhibits new possibilities in mixed-media practices within the current and future landscape.
