With support from the Embassy of Argentina in the UK and the Anglo-Argentine Society, Delfina Foundation welcomes applications from mid-career curators and cultural managers working in the field of contemporary art in Argentina for an 8-week residency in London, taking place from 4 January — 28 February 2024.
This residency is a milestone of the Programa Puentes/Bridges Programme that emerges from a collective initiative between the Argentine Embassy, the Anglo-Argentine Society, and Delfina Foundation, with strategic management from Camila Charask, Director of Beatriz Bardin Consulting Firm. It aims to bolster the visual arts ecosystem strengthening the links between Argentina and the UK. A guiding vision of Programa Puentes is the recognition of the role of curators and cultural practitioners in fostering these networks and exchanges.
Residency Activities
- Alongside offering time and space to develop their work, Delfina Foundation residencies include:
- Opportunities to meet and engage with artists, curators, academics and researchers through organised presentations, studio visits, events and meals;
- Professional development activities including presentations and crits, portfolio reviews, and mentoring activities to strengthen the artistic practice;
- Collaborative exchange between residents through informal gatherings, crits and meals;
- Guided visits to museums, galleries, non-profits, artist run spaces and studios, as well as trips to institutions outside London; and
- Opportunities to share work, including through a short video about the resident’s practice and time at Delfina Foundation that will be shared by Delfina Foundation and the residency partners.
Travel and Living Support
- The selected applicant will receive an eight-week residency at Delfina Foundation, including:
- A return economy-class flight
- Airport transfers in the UK
- Reimbursement of visa fee (if required)
- A living allowance of £30 per day
- A materials budget of £700
- Local travel pass for tubes and buses
- A single bedroom at Delfina Foundation – a house which hosts up to 8 residents with shared facilities, including: bathrooms, laundry rooms, a kitchen, library and dining room
Application Eligibility
- Applicants must be:
- Currently living and working in Argentina;
- A mid-career curator or cultural manager working in the field of contemporary art;
- Seeking an opportunity to develop their practice through research and access to resources;
- Able to explain how the experience of an international residency will be of benefit, not only to the individual but also to their local networks;
- Proficient in English (the interview will be conducted in English and applicants are expected to be able to confidently present and discuss their practice and ideas with the interviewers)
- And:
- Commit to completing a report at the end of their residency reflecting on the experience in terms of their own professional development and its potential to strengthen the visual arts ecosystem between Argentina and the UK.
