The Creative New Zealand has announced its Pacific Arts Residencies for Pasifika artists or practitioners.

- Aniva Arts Residency – Govett-Brewster Art Gallery (Ngamotu/New Plymouth)
- A new partnership between Creative New Zealand Pacific Arts Strategy and Govett Brewster Art Gallery. This is a three-month residency for a Pasifika artist or practitioner who identifies as LGBTQIA+ or MVPFAFF+ in Pasifika communities. The residency embraces the rich diversity and innovation in the Pacific arts community.
- Aniva Arts Residency – Pātaka Art + Museum (Wellington)
- A partnership between Creative New Zealand Pacific Arts Strategy and Pātaka Art + Museum. This is a three-month residency for a Pasifika artist or practitioner who identifies as LGBTQiA+ or MVPFAFF+ in Pasifika communities. The residency embraces the rich diversity and innovation in the Pacific arts community.
- Fulbright – Creative New Zealand Pacific Writer’s Residency (Hawai’i)
- Creative New Zealand offers this annual residency in partnership with Fulbright New Zealand. It enables a New Zealand writer of Pacific heritage to work on a project exploring Pacific identity, culture or history. The three-month residency is based at the Centre for Pacific Islands Studies at the University of Hawaii. The residency embraces the rich diversity and innovation in the Pacific arts community.
Funding Information
- Aniva Arts Residency – Govett-Brewster Art Gallery (Ngamotu/New Plymouth)
- $25,000 towards research, creating a new body of work or artistic collaborations.
- Aniva Arts Residency – Pātaka Art + Museum (Wellington)
- $25,000 towards research, creating a new body of work or artistic collaborations.
- Fulbright – Creative New Zealand Pacific Writer’s Residency (Hawai’i)
- $33,000 towards a project in any area of literary arts.
Eligibility Criteria
- Aniva Arts Residency – Govett-Brewster Art Gallery (Ngamotu/New Plymouth)
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident based in New Zealand
- Be an artist of Pacific Islands heritage who identifies as LGBTQIA+/MVPFAF+
- Have proven artistic experience in any artform or genre
- Aniva Arts Residency – Pātaka Art + Museum (Wellington)
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident based in New Zealand
- Be an artist of Pacific Islands heritage who identifies as LGBTQIA+/MVPFAF+
- Have proven artistic experience in any artform or genre
- Fulbright – Creative New Zealand Pacific Writer’s Residency (Hawai’i)
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Be an established New Zealand writer of Pacific Islands heritage whose work explores Pasifika identity, culture or history
- Have achieved successful public presentations or publications of at least three high-quality artworks, productions, or programmes in an area of writing including in Theatre, Literature and Screen
- Have endorsement and support for your work from at least two recognised peers or experts in your area of arts practice, or be critically acclaimed
- Have had your work presented or published nationally or internationally
- Have been invited to major writer events or arts festivals in NZ and internationally
- Have a specific project to work on during the residency
- Be able to present and engage professionally and with mana to overseas contacts and representatives
