The Alsea Foundation supports the development and well-being of the communities where it operates and, through its work, seeks to contribute to improving society’s quality of life.
Objective
- Promote innovative and original research projects related to food and nutrition systems with an impact on vulnerable populations that contribute to ensuring food security and developing high-impact public policies.
Funding Information
- The selected Project Participant will receive a diploma issued by Fundación Alsea AC and by World Vision México, as well as financial support for its implementation in the amount of $150,000.00 USD (one hundred fifty thousand 00/100 US dollars) or its equivalent of $3,000,000 (three million Mexican pesos 00/100 MN) to support the development of the proposed project.
- A maximum of 50% of the incentive ($75,000) will cover the expenses, salaries or wages of the personnel hired to support the project and the dissemination of results, and the remainder (minimum 50%) will be used for project execution.
- The project must be completed within a period of up to 18 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academics or research teams supported by a legally constituted organization or within the framework of universities, research centers and health institutions, public and/or private, both national and international, as well as nongovernmental organizations or civil society (hereinafter “the participants”), resident in Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay and/or Uruguay, who present projects related to food and nutrition systems with the following characteristics may participate:
- They should be original and innovative, paving the way for new policy developments in the area of food security and nutrition.
- They should consider inter- institutional and international collaboration with experts and institutions dedicated to this topic.
- That include the sustainability perspective.
- That they have a commitment letter that describes the characteristics and resources institutional support for the implementation of the project.
- That the proposed project promotes the training of human resources at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- The project must be original and of the author’s own authorship. Any copying, reproduction, or subtraction of information from third-party projects or programs will be considered plagiarism and will result in ineligibility. This will also empower the Organizer to initiate the appropriate legal proceedings.
Application Requirements
- Submit an executive summary of the research project, which must be original and innovative, with a maximum length of 5 (five) pages, not including sections two and three detailed below. Describe the minimum information required to address the problem to be addressed and its objectives (primary or general, specific or secondary), the methodology to be used, and the expected results. If the length exceeds 5 pages, the project will be disqualified.
- A PDF file must be sent in MS Word format with “Times New Roman” font.
- size 11, single spaced.

- Background
- Methodology
- Ethical aspects of the proposal
- Analysis of results and their effects
- Work team
- Work plan and schedule in schematic form
- Detailed budget (presented in US dollars)
