The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine announces recruitment for participation in the security and recovery ideathon ” RE-SAFE: breathe life into communities”, which will be held with the generous financial support of the European Union and the Government of Denmark.
They strive to develop the potential of community residents to implement socially significant and innovative ideas to restore and increase the level of public safety in their communities.
They are looking for motivated participants with innovative ideas who are ready to work on increasing the level of public safety and join the reconstruction of communities, forming stable, strong and productive partnerships who live and work in the communities of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhya, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv regions (on territories controlled by the Government of Ukraine).
Objectives
- The developed projects must meet the main objectives of the ideaton, namely:
- address issues related to public safety and/or recovery;
- to ensure the involvement of representatives of various groups among community residents in finding a problem, forming a solution and implementing the project;
- emphasize the importance of the participation of community residents in the processes of restoration and formation of safe and comfortable living conditions;
- to offer innovative solutions to overcome current challenges in communities;
- the basic principles of the Sustainable Development Goals should be the basis of the proposed solutions.
- Based on the results of the ideaton, the participants will be able to receive financial support in the form of a grant from UNDP in the amount of up to 15,000 US dollars. Please note that UNDP will provide support only to non-commercial initiatives.

Ideathon Format
- The concept of an ideathon involves learning together, sharing experiences and networking. During two days, the teams will be able to finalize the project ideas selected at the first stage together with experienced experts, present them at the pitch and receive feedback about the possibility of supporting the developed projects directly during the event.
- Teams whose concepts pass the first stage of selection will receive an invitation to participate in an offline ideation in Lviv until April 12, 2024.
Requirements for the Formation of Teams
- Teams of three or more people are invited to participate in the competition, which includes representatives of public associations, the veteran community, local business, local authorities, the police, the State Emergency Service, public safety and recovery working groups, IDP councils and integration working groups. and inclusion working in UNDP partner communities.
- Participation is possible only as part of a team of three or more people, which has a concept of an innovative idea to implement and, in case of winning, will implement the planned project together.
- They plan to select up to 25 teams to participate in the ideathon in Lviv based on the results of the preliminary evaluation of concepts, taking into account balanced regional representation and areas of activity for the future project.
- All expenses — travel (within the established limit), accommodation and meals — will be covered by UNDP. All safety measures will be observed during the ideathon.
