Applications are now open for the Contemporary Dance Showcase to elevate and support contemporary dance by raising awareness, producing dance works and organising educational activities for dance professionals from the Balkans.
The second edition of the showcase will be held in Novi Sad (Serbia) from 13–16 May 2026. The festival will present 10 contemporary dance productions, and 6 Dance Scape project pitches, and offer opportunities to meet, exchange ideas, interact with the audience and dance professionals and become part of a large artistic network.
They collaborate to support artistic mobility, co-creation and empowerment through capacity building, mentoring and fruitful synergies.

Eligible Countries
- Executive producers of the submitted work must be based and reside in the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Türkiye.
Eligibility Criteria
- The submitted work must be a contemporary dance performance with a minimum duration of 20 minutes.
- The submitted work must have been premiered in professional conditions and contexts to the general public no more than two years prior to the deadline of this open call. Works in progress will not be accepted.
- The authors must have at least two years of prior professional experience as choreographers (proof of two works created in professional context).
- Each choreographer or producer from the region may submit only one work per year. Applications that were not successful in the first Moving Balkans Open Call for Artists in 2024 cannot be resubmitted again the following year.
- The applicants must own the rights to perform the submitted work (music, script, etc.).
- Applicants must provide all the information as required in the application form. Please upload your full-length video recording on Vimeo or YouTube providing them with the link and the password if necessary. The video must not be artificially modified or manipulated; it should represent the live performance as it was presented to an audience.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Works created during a training course are not eligible.
Selection Criteria
- Quality of choreography and performance
- Innovative and well-structured works
- Works addressing contemporary social, artistic, environmental issues
- Good presentation of works with limited technical conditions that can be easily toured.
