The water champions programme is a skills development programme aimed at young people within South Africa, this programme is designed to give technical training to 30 young people, primarily unemployed women to gain water technical skills and NQF accreditation in the basics of water technology and treatment.
This program also aims to improve economic participation by training them to run and own water kiosks. For each province, a top 10 successful candidates will be participating online in the first half of the bootcamp and a top 4 will be selected from that group will be invited to join the in-person bootcamp where they will be trained to be Water Kiosk Owners.
Objectives of the Programme
- 6-Months Technical Training with Mentorship and Business Opportunities:
- Participants will receive National Certificate training in Community Water, Health, and Sanitation promotion (NQF Level 2), candidates that excel will have the opportunity to join Kusini Water as community operators or get finance to start and run their own water kiosk in their own community.
- Ensure That Safe and Adequate Running Water Is Available in Essential Premises, especially at points of usage in schools, clinics, and other important facilities within communities affected by lack of access to clean water and sanitation.

Requirements to Apply
- Between the ages of 18-35
- Entrepreneurial
- Women (preferred)
- Experience in general maintenance
- Welding (Optional)
- Computer Skills.
- Sub-requirements:
- Be based in a rural and/or economically disadvantaged community
- Young people living with disabilities (preferred).
