The U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan is pleased to announce its Global Undergraduate Exchange Program which is a fully funded scholarship for one semester of non-degree academic study at an assigned U.S. college or university.
Global UGRAD participants are often leaders in their home communities committed to building a better future. During the program, participants will explore U.S. society, culture, and academics. They will also participate in community service volunteering and enhance their professional skills with skill-building workshops.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a citizen of the country in which they apply for the Global UGRAD Program.
- Applicants must be studying in the country in which they apply for the Global UGRAD Program.
- Scholarships will be granted only to students who are currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate programs, having completed a minimum of their first semester of study. Participants must have one full year remaining at their home institution after completion of the Global UGRAD Exchange Program.
- Strong applicants are those that demonstrate leadership potential through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
- Strong applicants must demonstrate a command of written and spoken English. The TOEFL exam will be required for those selected as finalists or alternates.
- Preference will be given to those with little or no experience outside their home countries.
- Strong applicants will be those committed to returning home to their home country after the completion of the program.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Ineligibility Criteria
- U.S. citizens and permanent residents of the United States;
- Individuals currently studying, residing, or working outside their home country;
- Local employees working for the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Previously employed local staff are ineligible for one year following separation from employment at the U.S. Mission;
- Immediate family members (i.e. spouses and children) of U.S. Department of State and USAID employees; family members are also ineligible for one year following separation from employment at the U.S. Mission;
- Current World Learning employees and immediate family members.
