Calling all photography enthusiasts! The European Environment Agency (EEA) invites you to tell the story of your connection to the environment and showcase your photographic talent in the 2025 edition of their annual photo competition.
This year’s competition “Environment&Me” provides a unique opportunity to showcase your take on our planet’s journey toward a sustainable future. They face unprecedented environmental challenges that have been shaping the world they live in. From the visible impacts of climate change—such as rising temperatures and extreme weather — to biodiversity loss, pollution, waste, and resource scarcity, these issues touch their everyday lives. Through your lens, reflect on how these challenges impact and shape the world around you.

Categories
- Blue — Water & Me
- Dive into the heart of their blue planet. Showcase the beauty and challenges of their oceans, rivers, lakes, and marine life. From pristine coastlines and aquatic ecosystems to the impact of pollution, overfishing and water scarcity worsened by climate change; tell the story of their water and its vital role in sustaining life.
- Green — Nature & Me
- Celebrate the diversity of their landscapes and their biodiversity. Whether it’s lush forests, agricultural lands or the incredible creatures that live in their mountains, capture the essence of the green spaces that nourish our planet.
- Orange — Everyday life & Me
- Explore the intricate bond between people and their environment — how they live, work, and consume within the living spaces. From homes filled with personal histories to schools where ideas take root, and workplaces buzzing with innovation, our environments tell stories of adaptation and influence.

Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to the citizens of the EU 27 Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Türkiye; under the stabilisation and association agreements: North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- The photos must be taken in the countries mentioned above.
- All participant must be 18 or older.
- You must have full copyrights to the submitted material.
- Photos should comply with the manipulation rules set out in the Terms and Conditions.
- You may submit maximum 5 entries in the competition. Each entry will be handled separately so you need to fill out a new submission form for each entry.
- By submitting an entry, you will be presumed to have agreed to accept the Competition rules and the Terms and Conditions.
Selection Criteria
- The best photographs in each category will be selected by a pre-selection committee consisting of communication and environment experts designated by the EEA.
- Finalist photos will then be submitted to an external jury composed of environmental communication experts from across Europe. The jury will determine the winners of all prizes except for the Public Choice Award.
- For the Public Choice Award, the finalist entries selected by the pre-selection committee will be open to a public vote from 1 July to 15 July 2025.
- The winners of all prizes will be announced on 25 July 2025.
Application Requirements
- Take an original photo in electronic format (e.g.: .jpeg, .png, .tiff) with minimum resolution of 2000 pixels — preferably more than 4960 pixels — on the long side of the photo.
- Support your photo with a title and an optional short description (maximum 1000 characters in English).
