The India Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, they proudly announce IMD’s Poem Contest in collaboration with MyGov, providing a creative platform for young minds to celebrate and articulate the India Meteorological Department’s vital contributions.
This initiative encourages participants to explore and express IMD’s pivotal role in weather forecasting, disaster management, and climate awareness through the power of poetry. The contest aims to deepen public understanding of IMD’s mission by fostering creativity and reflection while inspiring innovative expressions that connect with and engage a broader audience.

Prize Information
- First Prize will be rewarded INR 5000/-
- Second Prize will be rewarded INR 3000/-
- Third Prize will be rewarded INR 2000/-
Eligibility Criteria
- The contest is open to all Indian citizens.
- While Hindi and English are the preferred languages for submission, entries can be submitted in any regional language.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Employees of the India Meteorological Department and directly or indirectly connected with organizing the competition are not eligible to participate in the competition. This Ineligibility also applies to their immediate family members.
Application Requirements
- The poem can be submitted in either pdf/jpg format.
- A poem shouldn’t exceed one A4 size page.
- Entries judged on the combination of overall creativity, originality, and emotional impact may be recognised further.
- Participants grant the organizers an exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free license to all rights, including intellectual property, for their submissions.
- Submissions must be original, complying with the Indian Copyright Act, 1957. Infringements will result in disqualification.
- 1Participants should ensure their MyGov profile is complete. This profile will be used by the Ministry of Women and Child Development for all future communications.
- Organizers reserve the right to amend or withdraw the competition and terms at any time.
- Submissions must not contain illegal, obscene, provocative, or inappropriate content.
- The committee’s decision is final. No re-evaluation requests will be entertained.
- These terms are governed by Indian law. By submitting, participants agree to these terms and conditions.
