The Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with MyGov is hosting a Painting competition and invites budding artists encouraging them to take part in raising awareness about the importance of preserving water through the power of art.
Water conservation has become a national priority in India as the country faces increasing challenges related to water scarcity and management. Under ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ program, approximately 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures are being constructed across the state to enhance rainwater harvesting and ensure long-term water sustainability.
Theme
- The theme of the painting competition is “Traditional Water Bodies of India”.
Prize Information
- Rewards (02 paintings from each state/UT wise):
- First prize reward: Rs 25,000/-
- Second prize reward: Rs 20,000/-
Eligibility Criteria
- The contest is open to all Indian citizens.
- All entries must be submitted on the MyGov portal. Entries submitted through any other mode will not be considered for evaluation.
Evaluation Criteria
- Two paintings from each State/UT will be rewarded.
- Each entry must have relevance to the theme.
- Each entry must bear the name, age, mobile/email, and State of the participant.
- Overall visual appeal
- Quality of the entry
- Painting must be original
Application Requirements
- Three sizes would be admissible
- Landscape – 36X24”
- Portrait- 24X36”
- Square- 24X24”
- All paintings must be in either watercolors or pen or ink sketches or both.
- Each participant can submit a maximum of one (01) painting in each of the above-mentioned sizes. The paintings submitted by the participants from States/UTs must pertain to their areas in respective States/UTs.
- Each painting will depict a “Traditional Water Body” which implies all such community water harvesting structures with water impounding built-up in the past and are akin to the Indian culture and historical background. The objective is to showcase & highlight the “Traditional Water Bodies” with water conservation measures in the country covering its diverse areas/regions.
- Two (02) Best paintings will be selected from each State/UT. The paintings submitted by the participants from States/UTs must pertain to their areas in respective State/UT.
- All States/UTs are advised to urge General Public including Educators/Students of Arts to participate in the competition.
- All paintings must be in either water colors or pen or ink sketches or both.
- Each participant can submit a maximum one (01) painting in each of the above-mentioned sizes in either water color, pen or ink sketches or a combination of the aforementioned types.
- A Screening Committee in the DoWR, RD&GR would shortlist the paintings received.
- A Jury Committee constituted by the Ministry of Jal Shakti will evaluate the shortlisted applications and select the best paintings.
- The painting should be made up of the following medium: water, oil and acrylic.
- Selection criteria: Creative, innovative and relevant to the contest theme.
- The entry must not contain any provocative, objectionable, or inappropriate content.
- The submitted entry should be submitted in HD Standard.
- The description about the painting needs to be submitted as a PDF document.
- The participant should ensure that his/her MyGov profile is accurate and updated, as organisers would use this for further communication. This includes details such as name, photo, complete postal address, email ID, and phone number, state.
- Participant & profile owner should be the same. Mismatch will lead to disqualification.
- Submission of the Painting must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957. If any entry found infringing on others, the entry will be disqualified from the competition.
- Selection process will be based on Painting Submission (through photograph) – Viewers’ Choice – Jury selection.
- The winners will be declared by way of announcing their names on the MyGov blog page after every level.
- Organisers reserve the right to reject any entry that does not feel is suitable or appropriate or which does not conform to any of the conditions listed above.
- By sending the entries, the Entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Terms & Conditions mentioned above.
- In the event of unforeseen circumstances, organizers reserve the right to amend or withdraw the competition at any time. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the right to amend these terms and conditions.
