The Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with MyGov, Uttar Pradesh Government has announced a captivating initiative unveiling the Vibrant Spirit of India – “Maha Kumbh Moments” Photography Contest.
The campaign aims to uplift the spirit of the Maha Kumbh Mela and Prayagraj city by capturing its essence.
These vibrant gatherings, both religious and cultural, rural and urban, transcend generations, connecting them to the heritage. They are the threads that bind the diverse fabric of the nation.

Award Information
- The winning entries will be awarded with the following prizes:
- First Prize: ₹20,000/-
- Second Prize: ₹15,000/-
- Third Prize: ₹10,000/-
Eligibility Criteria
- The contest is open to all Indian citizens.
Evaluation Criteria
- The jury will appoint judges for the contest, which will include members of the editorial team and/or external judges.
- The judging panel will assess and determine the winning photos. The results and winners will be announced on the website, social media platforms, and other appropriate channels.
- The decision of the Maha Kumbh Moments Contest judging panel will be final and binding on all participants regarding all matters related to the contest.
- The UP government reserves the right to request original JPEG or RAW files with unaltered EXIF data for authentication purposes. An image may be disregarded if this information cannot be provided.
Application Requirements
- The photograph must be original.
- There must be no border, logo, copyright marks, identifying marks or any other visible references and/or marks on the image.
- Advance editing is used to create illusions, deceptions, and/or manipulations, and the addition and removal of significant elements within the frame is prohibited.
- Photograph should be Printable Quality, theme based only, should be in JPEG or PNG format.
- A unique title and description must be provided.
- Photos that portray or otherwise include inappropriate and/or offensive content, including provocative nudity, violence, human rights and/or environment violation, and/or any other content deemed to be contrary to the law, religious, cultural & moral traditions, and practices of India, are strictly prohibited and will be immediately discarded.
- Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses.
- Submitted photos must be created and/or taken by the contestant. It must not contain any materials owned or controlled by a third party for which you have not obtained a license, and must not infringe the copyright, trademark, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
- The Government of UP respects the photographer’s copyrights and copyrights shall remain vested with the creator of the image. Upon making the submission, you grant the government of UP, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable right and license to use, publish, reproduce, display, perform, adapt, create derivative works, distribute, print, in whole or in part, in any form, in all media forms now or hereafter known, to promote the contest, image, the photographer or for editorial or educative use.
- Participants grant the organizers an exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free license to all rights, including intellectual property, for their submissions.
- Submissions must be original, complying with the Indian Copyright Act, 1957. Infringements will result in disqualification.
- Participants should ensure their MyGov profile is complete.
- Organizers reserve the right to amend or withdraw the competition and terms at any time.
- Submissions must not contain illegal, obscene, provocative, or inappropriate content.
- The committee’s decision is final. No re-evaluation requests will be entertained.
