Entries open for Estonian Cultural Foundation Essay Competition

They are looking for written works that express the author’s attitude to Estonian culture, the Estonian Cultural Capital or cultural policy in general. Where they have come in 100 years, how to move forward, how to shape the next century – all discussions are helpful in setting goals.

Theme 

• The theme of the essay competition: “The Next 100 Years of Estonian Culture”.

Prize Information

• Competition entries are evaluated by a jury, which includes representatives of the Cultural Capital Council, endowments and the press. The best writers are recognized by the jury appointed by the Cultural Endowment with a monetary prize:
  • First prize: 4000 euros
  • Second prize: 2000 euros
  • Third prize: 1000 euros

Eligibility Criteria

• Everyone can participate, except for the persons involved in the organization of the competition and members of the jury. Each participant can submit one self-written essay to the competition.

Application Requirements

• There is no limit to the form of the essay, but it must not have been published before the competition is announced.
• To participate in the competition, the essay must be sent to the official email address of the organization.
• The essay must be submitted as a PDF file.
• By participating in the competition, the author grants the right of first publication of the competition work either to the media publication where the work is published or to the Estonian Cultural Capital.
• The Cultural Foundation has the right to use the works submitted to the competition on the website of the Cultural Foundation or on the Facebook channel in agreement with the author.
• The author’s contact information must be added to the essay:
  • first and last name
  • email address
  • phone number.
