“Color the World with Character Traits” Poster Drive

PreK-12 students from across the globe are invitied to participate in the “Color the World with Character Traits” Poster Drive.

The purpose of the poster drive is to elevate character education’s importance to cultivate flourishing generations and empower communities, fostering positive character development, responsible citizenship, democratic values, and sustain-able economic growth, achieved by motivating and empowering students through critical reflection on a holistic spectrum of moral, intellectual, civic, and performance traits, encompassing honesty, integrity, love, kindness, and more, thus enabling them to contribute as moral agents committed to healing and improving the world.

Categories

  • The Character Education Week Poster Drive is divided into two categories by submission type.
    • Traditional Poster Category (PreK-12)
      • Traditional Poster Category Divisions:
        • The traditional Poster Category is divided into five divisions by grades.
          • PreK-1
          • 2-3
          • 4-5
          • 6-8
          • 9 – 12
    • Digital Poster Category (6-12)
      • Digital Poster Category Divisions:
        • It is divided into two divisions by grades.
          • 6 – 8
          • 9 – 12

Contest Benefits

  • All participants will receive a ‘Congratulations Certificate’ from The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
  • All participants will receive a ‘Certificate of Recognition’ from the University of Houston.
  • All participants will receive a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from the Rice University School Mathematics Project.
  • All teachers will receive a prestigious ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from character.org.
  • Winning poster owners will receive a ‘You are a Star’ Certificate from the School of Science and Technology.
  • Winning poster owners will receive a short congratulatory video message from CHARACTER COUNTS! at Drake University.
  • Each teacher of the winning student will receive a link to a free Digital Character Lesson Ebook: More Good Ideas from CHARACTER COUNTS! at Drake University. (available in versions grades K-5 or grades 6-12)
  • All participants will be provided with a ‘Kloodle profile’ by Kloodle. Students can upload their certificates from the poster drive and other achievements to their profiles, tagging relevant skills. Additionally, they will receive a Kloodle ‘award’ on their profiles.
  • Winning poster owners will be invited to participate in the ‘STARS in the Character Sky’ Virtual Event on May 2, 2024.

General Rules

  • All PreK-12 students, including homeschoolers worldwide, are eligible to apply.
    • Here are some essential details you need to know:
      • Eligibility: All students from PreK to 12th grade, including homeschoolers, are warmly welcomed to join this inspiring opportunity.
      • Judges’ Decisions: Rest assured, the decisions made by the judges will be final and binding across all categories and grade divisions.
      • Originality: They encourage you to unleash your creativity! All entries must be entirely original, showcasing your unique artistic talents.
      • Contact Information: Your privacy matters to them. The contact information collected will solely be used for the purpose of ‘The Character Education Week’ and will not be utilized for marketing or any other purposes.
      • Language: Feel free to express your message in English or your native language, providing an English translation alongside it.
      • Ownership: Once submitted, all poster entries will become the property of the Texas Character Education Week Poster Drive and will not be returned. They reserve the right to modify any poster or slogan for reproduction purposes.
      • Recognition: Celebrate your talent! Selected posters will be proudly displayed in the esteemed Gallery Section at The Character Week’s website and shared across the vibrant social media accounts.
  • Traditional poster rules:
    • Poster entries must provide a positive message about Character Education Week and focus on ‘Love’ as one of the character traits.
    • Be sure that your poster reflects a diverse, freeing, multifaceted, pragmatic definition of love instead of clichés.
    • Use plain printer paper
    • Must be student’s original Artwork, and be age-appropriate within-grade divisions
    • No glue; No glitter; No attachments; No signatures; No names in front of posters
    • No syndicated, copyrighted, or clipart images
    • No computer-aided or copy-machine poster entries
    • No profanity; No sexually explicit content; and No drawings of a suggestable nature allowed
    • Reproducibility, spelling, grammar, and poster messages also factor in judges’ decisions
    • Use good lettering, high contrast, and bright colors on plain copy paper
    • The words used in the poster should be in English or in the native language with an English translation.
    • The submitted jpeg image of the poster should be at least 300 dpi.
    • Photo of the Artwork (only Artwork) should be submitted.
  • Digital poster rules:
    • Poster entries must provide a positive message and focus on The Character Education Week and focus on ‘LOVE‘ as one of the character traits.
    • Be sure that your poster reflects a diverse, freeing, multifaceted, pragmatic definition of love instead of clichés.
    • Use Adobe Illustrator or a similar vector-based program only
    • Vector graphic only. No raster images
    • Use regular plain printer paper layout in a digital program
    • Must be student’s Original Artwork, and be age-appropriate within-grade divisions
    • No attachments or “placed” images; No signatures; No names in front of posters
    • No syndicated, copyrighted, or clipart images
    • No profanity; No sexually explicit content; and No drawings of a suggestable nature allowed.
