The Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI-UNA ITALY), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), has announced the new edition of the “United Nations Youth Delegate Programme – Italy” aimed at selecting a young man and a young woman who will serve as Italian UN Youth Delegate for the period September 2025 – September 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must:
- At the time of submitting your application, be no less than 20 and no more than 27 years old;
- Possess Italian citizenship and enjoy civil and political rights;
- Attend a university course of study or have completed a university course of study;
- Know how to use social media and other digital communication tools;
- Be enterprising and show passion for civic engagement, United Nations activities and youth policies.
- Tongue
- The candidate must have an excellent knowledge of the Italian language and of the English language, both written and spoken. Knowledge of any other widely spoken language is a preferential criterion.
- Training
- The Program is open to university students and graduates of any degree course provided they possess the required knowledge which will be assessed during an oral selection interview.
- Knowledge
- Regardless of the degree course, the candidate must – during the selective oral interview – demonstrate excellent knowledge of:
- Of the system and principal activities of the United Nations;
- Of international law and international current affairs;
- Of the guidelines of Italian foreign policy;
- Of the structure of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
- Regardless of the degree course, the candidate must – during the selective oral interview – demonstrate excellent knowledge of:
- Skills
- The required skills are:
- Ability to speak in public clearly, fluently and effectively;
- Ability to work in a team even with people from different cultural backgrounds;
- Organizational, expressive and communication skills;
- Digital skills in the use of communication tools.

Preferential Criteria
- In the event of equal merit, the following experiences will constitute preferential criteria:
- Participation in training courses and/or SIOI activities;
- Participation in MSOI activities;
- Knowledge of any other widely spoken language;
- Volunteering in youth organizations (e.g. student organizations and associations etc.);
- Volunteering or internship in NGOs, UN bodies and agencies and Italian diplomatic missions;
- International experiences such as volunteering abroad and exchange programs;
- Knowledge and use of digital graphic tools.
Selection Criteria
- The selected candidates will be called by email to attend an interview, which will take place on an online platform, by mid-May, in front of a special Commission.
- Only candidates admitted to the selective oral interview will receive written communication of the outcome of their application and the invitation to the interview.
- The interview will aim to ascertain knowledge of:
- Of the system and principal activities of the United Nations;
- Of international law and international current affairs;
- Of the guidelines of Italian foreign policy;
- Of the structure of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
- During the interview, the candidate’s command of the Italian and English languages and communication skills will also be assessed.
- At the end of the interviews, the Commission will select the candidates deemed suitable who will be called for a final interview. The interview may also take place online and the dates will be announced later.
- At the end of the selection process, the two winners, one young woman and one young man, will be chosen and communicated by 10 June 2025.
- Those who have taken the interview and are not winners will receive notification of the selection outcome via email.
