Object of the Call
- Call to select individual rural women who will participate as beneficiaries of the granting of compensation within co-financing line No. 3 of the FOMMUR.
Scope of Benefit
- Co-financing line No. 3 of the FOMMUR is aimed at financing or granting incentives, support and compensation to rural women, individually considered, up to the amount of 6.5 SMMLV. For the purposes of the provisions of Line 3, it will be understood as:

- Rural piangüero women play a crucial role in productive development and conservation of the Colombian Pacific:
- Contribution to mangrove conservation: Piangua cultivation is carried out in mangrove areas, and the activity of piangüera women helps preserve these natural ecosystems, which are fundamental for marine biodiversity, coastal protection and climate change mitigation. climate.
- Economic support of rural women: Piangüera women depend on their work in piangua cultivation as the main or complementary source of income for their families. The partial or total loss of its productive assets, such as the mangrove or the areas of piangua cultivation, due to natural phenomena or human activities, can cause a significant decrease in their income and put their food security and economic well-being at risk.
- Recognition of work and environmental contribution: The work of piangüera women goes beyond the production of piangüea; It also implies a commitment to the conservation and restoration of the mangrove. Recognizing and compensating their contribution to the protection of the environment and biodiversity is essential to value their work and encourage their active participation in conservation initiatives.
- Part of the piangua farming process carried out by piangüeras involves returning the piangua shells to the seabed once they have been collected. This practice is essential for the life cycle of the piangua and for the health of the mangrove ecosystem. Piangua shells returned to the seabed serve as a substrate for the attachment of new piangua seeds, thus promoting the growth and reproduction of this species. Additionally, they contribute to the restoration of the mangrove as:
- Improved water quality
- Sediment stabilization
- Increased biodiversity
- Habitat preservation
- Rural piangüa women who carry out mangrove restoration and conservation actions return the piangüa to the mangrove, since this helps maintain the piangüa population and preserve marine biodiversity. However, this process can take time and may result in a temporary decrease in the availability of piangüa for collection and sale, which could affect the income of piangüeras.
