Halqat invites you to apply for a 3-month artist residency in Cairo, from September 15 to December 15, 2025, at the White Villa of the Goethe-Institut Cairo.
The residency aims to support artistic projects that explore themes of care and gender, and to provide time, space, and resources for reflection, creation, and exchange.
Halaqat seeks to amplify artistic voices and support co-creation through various grants, artist residencies, public events, and capacity-building initiatives, including workshops and mentorship program.
Funding Information
- The residency is not primarily intended to organize a presentation or exhibition of your final project, but rather as a space to explore and develop projects and ideas. Depending on the needs of each project, additional funding may be provided to cover production and exhibition preparation costs after you submit a financial plan at the beginning of the residency in Cairo:
- Production costs up to 500 euros
- Prepare the offer up to 250 euros
Eligibility Criteria
- The residency welcomes photographers working in the fields of art, documentary, or fashion photography, whose practices intersect with contemporary art, critical cultural inquiry, or conceptual exploration. They pay particular attention to projects that address and explore multiple narratives, diverse social realities, and aesthetic approaches to themes of care, providing these projects make solid contributions, both visually and thematically, to current artistic and cultural debates.

- The residency only supports individual participation. Therefore, you can apply as individuals.
- The invitation is limited only to photographers coming from and/or residing in one of the countries listed.
- Eligible Countries:
- The call is open to photographers based in Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and the EU.
