Deadline: 8 August 2025
The Tangled Art + Disability is now accepting applications to exhibit your artwork at Tangled Art Gallery.
They invite submissions from Deaf, Mad, and Disability-identified artists and curators, as well as arts organizations and other cultural producers who practice Disability Arts and Curation. There are two different spaces you can apply to show your work: the main gallery space or the window vitrines. The main gallery has available dates for our 2027/28 season (September 2027 – July 2028) and the window vitrines has available dates for our 2026/27 season (September 2026 – July 2027).
Their goal is to foster art through ‘crip’ aesthetics, and support the transformative potential that Disability Arts can provide to both their community and society at large. They do this by cultivating art that considers disability politically and approaches the subject through a social and political lens rather than a medical problem in need of solving.
Costs Covered
- They will work with you to include accessibility in your exhibit. Some things that we can help you with are:
- Accessible sightlines of your work so everyone can see it in the gallery
- Sign language translations of any writing
- Captioning of audio pieces
- Audio descriptions of visual art
- Tactile art: art that you can touch and feel
- They will pay you:
- An artist fee to show your art
- For a professional installer
- Any accessibility costs
Eligibility Criteria
- You can apply if you are Deaf, Mad, or Disability-identified and you are an artist or a curator. A curator is someone who gets other artists together to show their work in a group show. You can also apply if you are part of an organization or group that makes Disability Art.
- They encourage applications from diverse community and cultural backgrounds. This includes Black people, Indigenous people, People of Colour, and people from the LGBTQ community.
