Call for Entries: Residency Think Tanger 2026

Deadline: 11 June 2025

Are you a designer, architect, spatial practitioner or maker, and do you want to conduct research and create new work in Morocco with a focus on design, urbanism and the dynamics between social and spatial aspects? The Creative Industries Fund NL and the Mondriaan Fund offers a residency period at Think Tangier in Tangier, Morocco in the spring/summer of 2026.

Funding Information

  • For a working period, you will receive a grant of €5,500, intended for travel costs, living expenses, compensation for time invested and material and transport costs.
  • The costs for accommodation, use of the studio space and facilitation by Think Tanger will be paid directly by the Creative Industries Fund NL to Think Tanger.
  • Residency periods: May 5, 2026 July 5, 2026.

Program Details

  • Accommodation: During the eight-week residency period at Think Tanger, the organization will accommodate one artist (with financial support from the Mondriaan Fund) and one designer (with financial support from the Creative Industries Fund NL). The two participants will stay in a spacious apartment, each with their own bedroom. The participants will share the living room, bathroom and kitchen. The apartment is located above Think Tanger’s cultural space, the Kiosk, which offers space for meetings and creative inspiration.
  • Guidance: Throughout the residency, Think Tanger will provide professional and practical guidance and facilitate connections with its extensive network. The residency starts with an immersive tour of Tanger in the first and second week. During this time, participants will also meet the team to get to know Think Tanger’s mission and values and to discuss expectations and project ideas. Participants can schedule up to two evaluation moments per week to discuss the progress of their project and any needs.
  • Facilities: Participants will have exclusive access to the Tanger Print Club, which also has a screen printing studio. An assistant will be present to provide interpreting and translation services, to help with contacts with local craftsmen, designers and organisations, and to help with getting to know the city.
  • Program: The residency will culminate at the end of the period with an Open Studio in Tangier, coordinated with Think Tangier. During the residency, one or two studio sessions or lectures will be organized to which a relevant audience will be invited to engage with the resident’s work and ideas.
