Deadline: 13 July 2024
The Gasworks organisation calls for artists for its Residency Programme to supports professional development, cultural exchange, and artistic experimentation.
Gasworks is a non-profit contemporary visual art organisation working at the intersection between UK and international practices and debates. They provide studios for London-based artists; commission emerging UK-based and international artists to present their first major exhibitions in the UK; and develop a highly respected international residencies programme, which offers rare opportunities for international artists to research and develop new work in London.
This residency open call is for an artist based in Paris, Île-de-France, who have presented their work in several venues. The eleven-week, fully funded residency will take place at Gasworks in London from 6 January to 24 March 2025.
They provide administrative, pastoral, and curatorial support throughout the residency, but they expect residents to be self-motivated, and to lead on the research and production of their own work, during their time with them.
They welcome applications that think broadly about London and Gasworks as sites of exchange and production, and from artists with a clear research focus. They will prioritise applications from artists who have not had significant opportunities in London before.

Eligibility Criteria
- They encourage eligible artists from all backgrounds to apply.
- Gasworks’ building is fully accessible, and they can make to provide fully accessible accommodation, if necessary.
- Due to their limited facilities, they are not able to offer residencies to artistic duos or collectives, as the funds available for each residency and the rooms available in their shared accommodation are for one person only. For the same reasons, they are unable to accommodate partners or children, though artists wishing to travel with their families may still apply if they are able to arrange, and pay for, their own accommodation and travel.
