The Kosovo Foundation for Civil Society (KCSF) invites 18-24 year olds from Peja, Klina and Istog to become part of the second edition of the Community Leadership Academy, which takes place within the Civic Engagement Program, a five-year initiative that is implemented in partnership with the mission of USAID in Kosovo.
The Academy program, which is offered free of charge, is designed in collaboration with Street Law, a prestigious organization in the field of non-formal education based in the United States of America. The same is a unique experience that offers training and professional preparation, through two workshops planned at the beginning and end of the program, in addition to meetings and continuous practical work, in the organization and implementation of community initiatives. It is developed by trainers with proven knowledge and experience who will help you become an active and responsible citizen, as well as build a network with activists and other professionals in the community and country where you live.
What do you benefit from this academy?
- You will be better prepared about:
- The basic principles of democracy, the role of citizens in preserving and developing democracy and democratic development in Kosovo, including weaknesses, challenges and opportunities;
- Recognition of basic human rights and freedoms guaranteed by the constitution and international conventions;
- Identifying the main problems and issues that affect the neighborhood of your city, or the community group you belong to or support, as well as finding opportunities to address these problems through civic engagement;
- Leadership and activism, including critical thinking, communication, advocacy and community building, and research skills;
- The process of developing an initiative to address an issue/need in your community;
- How to:
- Have increased confidence in your abilities to create positive social change;
- Expand your personal and professional networks with others committed to change positive in Kosovo;
- You have the opportunity to actively engage and advocate for important community issues and influence policy and decision-making.
- You will also:
- Develop original ideas and compete for a mini-grant to implement an initiative in your community;
- You are part of other activities of the Civic Engagement Program implemented by KCSF and the USAID mission in Kosovo;
- Serve as a point of reference and support for activism and participation in public life for members of the community where you live;
- Become part of a network of young activists, the first of this format in Kosovo.
Who can apply?
- 18-24 year olds from Peja, Istog and Klina are eligible to apply.
- Application criteria:
- Be interested in expanding your knowledge and skills to commit to positive change in your community/school/local organization.
- Be interested in youth participation/civil society organization/community activism.
- Be willing and motivated to join and complete the Academy program following it regularly, as well as to take advantage of other engagements and opportunities after the Academy.
