Applications are now open for Ontario Arts Council program to support the creation, recording and production of French-language songs and music by professional artists.
It allows artists to devote themselves to creation or production projects, to foster the development of song and music artists by prioritizing access to cutting-edge human and technical resources for the realization of their project, and to help artists make their works known.
Categories
- The program has five categories:
- Creation: A project to create new songs or musical works through the composition of music, the writing of lyrics, or both.
- Demo or EP production: Includes all steps from recording to launch (for an EP).
- Full-length album production: Includes all stages from recording to album release.
- Show development: Preparation phase of a new show of original French-language songs intended for an audience present physically or virtually (e.g. online broadcast, radio broadcast) and for which a date and venue are known.
- Music video production: Production of a music video of a French-language song that has already been created and recorded. The music video is not considered complete until it has been released to the public.
Funding Information
- Creation: maximum $5,000
- Demo or EP production: maximum $5,000
- Long-form album production: maximum $10,000
- Show development: maximum $8,000
- Music video production: maximum $8,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Professional music artists who reside in Ontario.
- Ad hoc groups, collectives and non-profit music organizations composed of professional music artists of whom at least 50% reside in Ontario.
- To be eligible for this program, you (or, in the case of a group or organization, one of the members) must also be:
- Either the author-composer of the songs that are the subject of the request.
- Or the lyricist of the songs that are the subject of the request. You must specify the name of the French-speaking composers with whom you will collaborate on the project.
- Or the composer of the music that is the subject of the request. If applicable, you must specify the name of the French-speaking lyricists with whom you will collaborate on the project.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Colleges, universities and municipalities.
- Organizations that receive:
- An operating grant for one of the French-language arts programs, namely:
- Visual arts, media arts and crafts: French-speaking self-managed artist organizations and centers operation.
- French-language broadcasting how it works.
- French edition operation.
- French-speaking arts service organizations operation.
- French-speaking theatre operation.
- Any other operating grant and not having a mandate to serve one or more priority groups of the CAO.
