The call for applications is now open for Belizean university students and teachers of French as a foreign language to immerse themselves in a unique teaching and cultural exchange experience in France.
Each year, nearly 4,500 assistants from 68 countries participate in this program, contributing to the teaching of 15 languages in French elementary or secondary schools. With a seven-month contract granted by the French government, the assistants support English teachers in various activities and share the cultural richness of their country of origin.
Funding Information
- For a 12-hour work week as an English Teaching Assistant in France, you will receive a monthly salary of approximately €1036.21 (gross salary).
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications will only be received from candidates who, at the time of the call for applications, are university students enrolled in at least the third year of their degree program (in any public or private university program) or teachers of French as a foreign language (FLE) who hold a university diploma accrediting them as such and who are working in the field of teaching French as a foreign language. Any other condition of the candidate is excluded.
- Mandatory requirements:
- Candidates must reside in their country of origin at the time of submitting their application, as well as traveling to France if selected. They must also be university students in any field or teachers of FLE in their country of origin. Applications from people living or studying abroad are excluded, even if they have the nationality of the country where the call for applications is made.
- To be Belizean by birth or by naturalization (if this is the case, a proof from the Civil Registry must be presented), candidates with French or European nationality will not be accepted.
- Be between 20 and 35 years old by September 30, 2025.
- Must be a regular student of a university career at the time of submitting your application, must be in at least third year of career, ie, students are not accepted either first or second year of university career (both students of public universities, as private universities, must provide a letter from the school where they study indicating only the year of study in which it is and the career taken, the same should NOT indicate the mode of the course : bimester, quarter, term, etc.). Applications that do not meet this requirement of being a regular and registered university student will not be accepted.
- Proficient in oral and written French (have a level of French equivalent to B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CECR).
- University students of other non-French majors who study or have studied the language at the Alliance Française or any other institution, must present a certificate indicating the language level taken, the level acquired according to the European Framework and the year in which the French course(s) was/are taken. If you obtained a DELF or DALF level, you must attach a copy of the diploma.
- Hold a valid passport: it must be valid until December 2026.
- Practicing teachers of French as a foreign language must present a copy of their university diploma, as well as proof of their place of work indicating the institution where they work and whether they are tenured or temporary.
- Applications will not be accepted from people who have already benefited in previous years from a position as an English language teaching assistant in France. The program only allows you to be an assistant once.
- Transcripts are not accepted. Candidates must be regular students, students enrolled by proficiency or graduates are not accepted.
