The Asia New Zealand Foundation is thrilled to offer a New Zealand-based journalist or content creator the opportunity to spend a week in South Korea to document the experiences of Christchurch band called There’s a Tuesday.
The successful applicant will follow the band for the week they’re in Seoul to document their experience in a compelling and engaging way—they’re interested to hear your ideas about how to do this.
They are keen to hear from journalists and content producers working in mainstream media, but also freelancers and those working for niche publications and web outlets with a strong interest in New Zealand music.
Your application should detail how you would produce and present the story, and via which channels it could be circulated. They’re interested in hearing from people who can produce and preferable publish, for example:
- a short documentary
- radio programme or podcast
- articles for print or online publications.
Costs Covered
- Return economy flights to Seoul from a main New Zealand city.
- Accommodation for full residency dates.
- Travel insurance cost (excluding any excess).
- C-4 Short-Term Employment Visa application cost.
- Contribution towards transport, food and entertainment etc.
Eligibility Criteria
- They’re seeking an Aotearoa-based content creators and journalists experienced in developing and producing original material. You should:
- be experienced in reporting in live music environments.
- be open to creative exchange and new cultural experiences.
- have a proved track record in music journalism.
- Applicants must:
- be available and able to travel to Seoul for the full residency period.
- be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- be aged 18 years or older at the time of travel.
- hold valid passports and meet South Korean visa entry requirements.
- write an article for the Asia New Zealand Foundation website.
- engage with Big Fan and Asia New Zealand Foundation post-residency.
Selection Criteria
- Applicants will be assessed on how closely they meet the ‘Who Should Apply’ profile, with consideration given to:
- journalism/content creation experience.
- the provided examples of their work.
- potential to grow creatively and professionally through this opportunity.
